Representative Clibborn endorses Dale Murphy for State Legislature

Renton, WA, 8/11/2006 — State Representative Judy Clibborn tonight endorsed Dale Murphy’s (D-41) bid to become the next State Legislator from the 41st District. First time candidate Dale Murphy’s campaign is quickly gathering momentum, and looks to be a key race to watch in 2006.

Representative Clibborn said, “I respect Dale and his background.  He has grown up here and knows the area well.  I look forward to working with him in Olympia on the many issues facing our state.”

Dale is a business educator focused on economic issues.  During his campaign he has focused on reducing roadway congestion, making health-care affordable, and supporting public schools.  “I believe Lake Washington’s South-East shores are a vibrant and wonderful place to live.  But we can do better in our schools, on our roads, and with our jobs.  I believe I am the kind of leader who can make those changes happen in Olympia”, Dale said.

The 41st District covers Mercer Island, Bellevue, New Castle, Renton, and parts of Issaquah.  Dale is running unopposed as a Democrat, and will face his Republican opponent in the November 7th General Election.

Representative Judy Clibborn is a former mayor of Mercer Island. She was elected to the Legislature in 2002, and re-elected in 2004.  She is currently running for her third term.

Dale Murphy was born and raised on Mercer Island.  He attended local public schools before earning a PhD from MIT.  He served as a vice president at Citibank before becoming a business educator.  He is an expert on international business, international relations, corporate responsibility, and entrepreneurship.  Dale taught at Harvard and Georgetown for several years before returning to his home on Mercer Island.
